Episode 96 Bryce HarperFirst and foremost, the news of Bryce Harper signing with the Phillies broke moments after we finished recording this week’s episode. Through the magic of audio editing, however, Jed Rigney makes a special appearance in the middle of Jed Rigney and Jon Sumple discussing where Bryce Harper might land. Guess where Jed predicts he’ll sign?

In Episode 96 of Foul Territory: A Baseball Podcast—the Tommy Hunter edition—Jed and Jon speculate oodles about where Bryce Harper will land before the breaking news interruption provides an update. Other Headlines this week include Nolan Arenado signing an extension with the Rockies that looks sexy but might not be given the opt out after three years, Clayton Kershaw ailing early in spring training, a DC donut shop offering Bryce Harper donuts for life if he stays with the Nats, the Yankees extending Aaron Hicks and adding Andy Pettitte as a special advisor (there goes the Core Four reunion in Miami!), Bud Black getting extended by the Rox, Miles Mikolas extending with the Cardinals, Marwin Gonzalez signing with the Twins, Blue Jays stating Vlad Jr. will start the season in Triple-A (shocker), Rick Ankiel making a comeback, no loving on the pitch clock and the Atlantic League playing guinea pig for future MLB new rules.

This week’s Starting Nine features nine players with road trip movie names, in honor of Jed’s upcoming cross-country drive, and Around the Horn features Jed’s take on fantasy baseball sleepers for every team.

The show wraps with Extra Innings, our look outside the world of baseball, featuring Nick Foles becoming a free agent, Johnny Manziel being released and banned from the CFL (Sad. Very Sad.), commentary on Oscar winners, and Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz winning $179 million from FOX in a “Bones” TV show lawsuit. That’s a lot of bones!
