First and foremost, this year’s MLB Winter Meetings haven’t been too Hot Stovey.

Episode 48 of Foul Territory: A Baseball Podcast — the Torii Hunter episode — is all in the MLB Winter Meetings … and Star Wars! Host Jed Rigney and Jon Sumple play a few Jedi mind tricks before jumping into this week’s Headlines, which feature Shohei Ohtani choosing the Angels, Giancarlo Stanton dissing the Giants and Cardinals and approving the Yankees, Marcell Ozuna heading to the Cardinals, Dee Gordon to the Mariners, the decline (again) of the Marlins franchise in order to rise from the ashes (maybe), Steven Piscotty heading west to be near his mom, Ian Kinsler to the Angels, Manny Machado on the block with the White Sox (huh?) in pursuit, Relieverpalooza grabbing the headlines and the cash, Brian Cashman getting extended as Yankees GM, Tigers teammates Alan Trammell and Jack Morris getting Veteran’s Committee nods to the Hall of Fame, and Bob Costas earning the Ford C. Frick Hall of Fame honor.

This week’s Starting Nine honors the opening of Star Wars with nine players with Star Wars names. These are not to be missed! Show wraps with Extra Innings, a look outside the world of baseball, which features a look at Roger Goodell returning to deflect all that is bad in the NFL, Carson Wentz missing the rest of the season and damaging the Eagles deep-run chances in the playoffs, Aaron Rodgers set to return to elevate the Pack, and Roy Moore’s epic loss in Alabama.
