Episode 44: World Series recap; slippery balls; manager changes; hot stove firing up; Deshaun Watson; P Diddy
Episode 44 of Foul Territory — the Hank Aaron Episode — is all World Series recap all the time. Jed Rigney and Jon Sumple wax poetic about the 2017 classic series that was “tainted” somewhat by the “slippery balls” effect. Sure there’s talk about Game 7 and Yu Darvish tanking and whether or not Clayton Kershaw should have started, but nothing mattered more than those damn slippery balls. Kudos to the Astros and better luck next year to the Dodgers. Next up: Managers coming and going, including Dusty Baker and Joe Girardi being shown the door, and Dave Martinez, Alex Cora, Gabe Kapler and Ron Gardenhire getting new gigs. Qualifying offers, free agents, opting in and out, the Marlins and their goal to rebuild (who’s staying and who’s going), Tony LaRussa heading to Boston to do who knows what and Justin Verlander ending his season like a boss by marrying Kate Upton in Italy round out this week’s Headlines.
This week’s Starting Nine gives us players with scary sounding names in recognition of Halloween and the show wraps with Extra Innings and a look at Deshaun Watson’s promising season ending with the Texans, Lamar Odom’s nine lives and Sean “Diddy” Combs changing his name yet again, this time to “Love” and/or “Brother Love.” Geez.
