The Philosophy of Baseball
Earlier this week Bruce Levine posted on Twitter that he had a conversation with the Chicago Cubs’ struggling outfielder Jason Heyward that veered into a talk about Baseball Philosophy.
A couple seasons ago Heyward joined the team with what many thought was an overpriced contract. He has long been regarded as an excellent fielder but his hitting performance has ranged from superstar to super-dud.
One of the key points Hayward made to Levine was that in talking to new Cubs hitting coach Chili Davis, most of what they discussed was philosophical.
Cubs RF Jason Heyward said that his interaction with new hitting coach Chili Davis has been more on the philosophical side .

So I decided to take a look out there and see what kind of baseball philosophy exists. I was delighted and inspired by what I found:
The Philosophy of Baseball
“Be the change-up you want to see in the world.”
“2B or not 2B, that is the scorekeeper’s question.”
“If a fly ball drops in the forest does it make a sound?”
“I bunt therefore I am out.”
“Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in bat flipping every time we go yard.”
“Choose a pitch you love, and you will never have to walk a better in your life.”
“The supreme art of Wins Above Replacement is to subdue the enemy without fighting.”
Hopefully Jason Heyward and Chili Davis get to read these and help make a difference in the world.
