Home runs continue at a historic pace and baseball set a calendar-month record with 1,135 home runs in May. Previously, the most home runs in a single month was 1,119 in August 2017. Veteran first baseman Bill Buckner has died at the age of 69. He will probably be remembered most for the ground ball that went between his legs in the 1986 World Series, but he will also be remembered for the poise and dignity he displayed afterward.
