Yankees great Mariano Rivera is in. So is Mike Mussina, the long-time Orioles ace. As was former Seattle Mariners designated hitter Edgar Martinez and late Blue Jays and Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay. Rivera was the first player elected unanimously by the BBWAA. Maybe voters got smarter or they simply recognized Rivera as the greatest player ever at his position. But they probably just feared getting dragged through the savage streets of social media.
Multiple sources have said that the Padres are in on Manny Machado to play third base. The team is in rebuilding mode, but a player like Machado could be a cornerstone player for San Diego. They did something like this last year with Eric Hosmer's $144 million contract. Which shows the team definitely knows how to waste money.
Diamondbacks free agent center fielder A.J. Pollock has agreed to a deal with NL West rival Dodgers. He is guaranteed $55 million over four years or $60 million over five years, if he stays with the club. The Dodgers needed to replace Yasiel Puig in the lineup and he not only does that but Pollock also gives the team a fish-named player to compete with Mike Trout across town.

MLB has proposed a rule change to curb teams from exploiting the disabled list and manipulating rosters. The proposal, which needs to be approved by the Players Association, would revert the minimum time on the disabled list to 15 days instead of 10 days. Thanks a lot, Obamacare!
